The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with energy industry employees on the occasion of Power Engineer’s Day and presented them with state awards. The press service of the head of state reported this on Friday, December 23.
The solemn ceremony was held in the White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv.
Addressing the energy workers, Zelensky emphasized that they are all protectors of Ukraine, as they resumed energy supplies after rocket attacks by Russian terrorists.
“Defenders and defenders of our lives, people, state, our society, economy and, I am sure, our future in general. It is an honor for me to see you today here at the Mariinsky Palace and celebrate you with state awards on the occasion of Power Engineer’s Day. I congratulate you all, all Ukrainian power engineers on their professional holiday,” the president said.
He emphasized that the employees of the energy industry are among those who, with their attention and conscience, ensure the future success of Ukraine.
“I want our state to always remember and honor those who died in this war, fighting and working for the good of everyone in Ukraine,” Zelensky added.
Participants observed a minute of silence in memory of energy sector workers, whose lives were lost in the war.
The head of state emphasized that the next year will be decisive in the life of the Ukrainian state.
“The way it goes, what results we achieve, in many respects really depends on how we go through this winter, how we live it. It is directly related to our energy,” he said .
Zelensky also presented state awards and honorary titles of Honored Power Engineer of Ukraine to power engineers and family members of deceased industry workers. They are awarded for a significant contribution to the development and operation of the energy complex under martial law, personal courage and dedication shown after accidents at energy infrastructure facilities, conscientious performance of professional duties .
