Chambord Castle
The dates. until January 2, 2023.
The program: Throughout the month, Chambord wears his garment of light. Like every year… or almost. This year, sobriety dictates that the path of 100 Christmas trees leading to the castle will be illuminated by a photovoltaic power plant installed in the park. The interior was decorated by the students of the National School of Florists with the theme “Banquet at the King’s Table”. A special program for families will enliven weekends and school holidays with Renaissance workshops: dance lessons, falconry and artistic fencing. Not forgetting the fireside readings.
The inevitable. December 17 to 30, at 11:00 or 15:00, Christmas show. The Almost True Story of Francois 1er will transport the visitor to the 16th century. A cheerful yet historical piece should delight children and parents alike. Be careful, places are going like hot cakes…
Chambord Castle. Free entrance to the castle for children under 25 years old. Combined ticket show + castle: adults €30, 18-25 years old €18, children €14.50. Free entertainment without reservation. Such. +33 (0)2 54 50 50 40, reservations@chambord.org

The program: “Château de Moulinsart” revisits its classics: a hundred fir trees placed in six gardens of the estate, a giant tree twenty meters high, as well as a novelty: a fifteen meter long Santa Claus train. Inside, the rooms have been given a gluttony theme and lead to the Orangerie, where you can enjoy hot chocolate by the fire.
The inevitable. Santa Claus will visit the castle on December 18 from 16:00. On that occasion, in the evening, everyone is allowed to admire the illuminations. The day can end with dinner at the Orangerie Restaurant, which is exclusively open. And, why not, for one night in one of the furnished suites in the former outbuildings.

“Christmas in the land of castles» all of Touraine

The dates. until January 2, 2023.
The program This year, seven more châteaux in Touraine (Chenonceau, Amboise, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry, Langeau, Chinon and Loch) are joining forces to offer visitors a Christmas-themed route with signs. Ideal for those who would like to treat themselves to the region for a few days. Our favorite topics: Gluttony (always!) at Azay-le-Rideau, which showcases its vintage tableware collections and Corinne Bernizete’s gastronomic artwork: silk cakes, paper-shell eggs and cloth nuns. Les fleurs à Chenonceau invited Atelier floral de Chenonceau to create “Dream Tables, Party Tables”. Even more magical in its night version, on December 21, from 6 to 8 pm with a live flower show. For Adults: Flower Art Masterclass by Jean-Francois Boucher (Meilleur Ouvrier de France and florist extraordinaire who creates and manages the floral arrangements of the castle, Ed.) on the 23rd and 30th and between the 21st and 30th to host art classes during the Renaissance.
The inevitable. In the royal town of Loches, a visit around the character of the Grinch, who is as angry as he is lovable. A fairy tale reading will be organized in his den on Sundays and holidays. Will he succeed in ruining Christmas? Nothing is less certain…
Christmas in the land of castles. General admission to three, five or seven castles: €35, €55 or €70. Buy tickets at Touraine tourist offices and online.
