Around 300,000 people in France will sleep rough this winter, according to estimates from the Abbe Pierre Foundation. Faced with this plight, ten mayors of major cities, including Strasbourg, Lyon, Rennes and Bordeaux, sent a letter on October 27 to Prime Minister Elisabeth Bourne and Olivier Klein, delegate of the Minister for Cities and Housing.
In this letter, elected Nupes condemned “Unprecedented growth of large uncertain situations”. and asked “Enforce the law to guarantee a roof for any vulnerable person on the street.”. Since its promulgation in 2007, the Dalow Law (the opposite of housing law) must guarantee “decent housing” to all people who “cannot afford it by their own means”.
