David de Paz, 54, is leaving his post to join the Supreme Court of Paris. Appointed Anti-Terrorist Investigating Judge in 2015 and Co-ordinator of the Paris Court’s Anti-Terrorism Unit in 2019, he looks back on his experience: Le Figaro and particularly emphasizes the permanence of the jihadist threat.
LE FIGARO. – When you arrived at the anti-terrorist center in 2015, you felt the wave of Islamist attacks and the emergence of mass trials. What is the cluster’s track record in this area and what is the profile of the people involved?
David DE PAS. – I did join the counter-terrorism unit of the directive in September 2015, just a few weeks before the chaos of November 13 and the unprecedented wave of terrorism that bloodied France almost non-stop until Professor Patty’s assassination in October 2020.
