A few days before the return to school on September 1, the school bags are already ready or in the process of completion for twelve million French students. But not only. 20,000 Ukrainian children, who rushed to the territory, fleeing from Russian bombs, are also preparing to return to school. Some will even discover them for the first time.

They welcomed 18,000 last June, according to the latest update from the Ministry of National Education. Most of them (40%) went to elementary school, 30% to college, 20% to kindergarten and only 10% to high school. Arriving in shock, often accompanied by their mothers and sometimes their grandmothers, the little Ukrainians were sent to the four corners of France. The academies with the largest number of students from Ukraine are Nice with 1,515 children, then Versailles with 1,291, followed by Grenoble with 1,182 minors enrolled.
