” Ministry of Health care reports that the number of confirmed cases of monkeypox has increased to 224, corresponding to 8 regions Peruall patients received medical care, 35 medical discharges were registered and contacts are being identified, ”Mins’s official Twitter account says.
The said sector of government once again urged the public to call 113, option 6, in the event of a rash or skin lesions; or they can also go to the nearest medical facility.
Hospitals prepare to receive patients
Minsa asked each region to implement an action plan in case of a possible increase in the number of infections. So far, the regions of Amazonas, Piura and Junin have reported on the actions they are taking to meet the demands of the cases.
In Piura, 10 clinical observation posts will be set up in health centers in some areas to deal with possible cases of monkeypox.
The Gustavo Lanata Luján Hospital in Bagua province, Amazonas region, has created a large environment to house possible cases of monkeypox, said director of the medical facility, Jose Olivera.
FDA approves more monkeypox vaccines
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved additional national approval for doses of smallpox and monkeypox vaccine manufactured at pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic’s facility in Denmark.
The FDA said after completing an inspection process for that plant earlier this month, it concluded that a Bavarian Scandinavian vaccine called Jynneos met quality standards.
The US regulator added that it had previously facilitated the transport of these doses from the Danish plant to the US so that they would be ready for distribution as soon as it gave permission.
There are two licensed monkeypox vaccines in the US, Jynneos and Acam2000, but stocks of the first vaccine in the country are still quite limited.
