In a cloud of dust and under a blazing sun that has set again after an overcast morning sky, construction equipment is busy. Day and night, companies requested by the Landes prefecture are working to protect Biscarross from a giant fire that has been raging for more than a week, several kilometers away.

To the north is La Teste-de-Buch, in the Gironde, this town from which the fire devoured and destroyed everything in its path. Driven by the winds, it was getting closer to Biskaros every day. Neutralized but still not completely restricted, it is only 3.5 kilometers from some of the residential areas of this seaside resort, which rises from 15,000 inhabitants in winter to 90,000 in summer.
