Mothers of the common pot “La Unión ha la Fuerza”, in the district Tiklio Boyat Villa Maria del Triunfo (TDC), prepare broths and soups to relieve the severe winter cold.
Team RPP News came to this area, one of the coldest in Lima, and found that the mothers make a huge effort every day to cook.
“We cook soups. Jerk, bone, vegetable soup; to keep us warm when we’re so cold,” said Mrs. Morelia, one of the people in charge.
The biggest problem these women face is the lack of food preparation products, so they have to resort to selling peeled garlic as a source of income.
“We, mothers, peel garlic, and this is already income to support us and even cook something for our children,” she said.
Individuals and companies who wish to show solidarity with these families can call 978697962.
It’s cold in Tiklio Chico
National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology of Peru (senamhi) predicted that the temperature would drop to 6 degrees Celsius during winter in the zone Tiklio Boy.
In dialogue with RPP NewsEngineer Grinia Avalos, Deputy Director of Climate Forecasting senamhiwarned that the thermal sensation in the area would be even lower until it reached two degrees Celsius.
“We expect that the average winter temperature will fluctuate between 6 and 7 degrees Celsius. We are talking about July and August, mainly when typical winter conditions set in,” he said.
“But these values need to be overlaid with a thermal sensation, which is associated with the presence of high concentrations of atmospheric humidity and winds, forcing the population to perceive temperatures up to two degrees,” he added.
