The mayor of San Juan de Lurigancho warns that the Rimac River could burst its banks at any time after the increase in flow.

Jesus Maldonado criticized people who stay close to rimak river just to take a photo. In this sense, he urged people to get out of there for safety.

“I don’t understand the logic behind wanting to expose his life. They come to the river to look at it, to see how it grows (flow). I had to hire Serenasgo staff to clean them up, some taking pictures on the Huaycoloro bridge,” he said.

The burgomaster also indicated that the ravine was activated, but it was quickly brought under control and not allowed to affect the houses.

“One of the gorges in San Antonio has been activated. We managed to control it, it is already redirected. But within a few hours, the Huaycoloro Bridge is experiencing some pretty serious growth in a high-risk environment,” Maldonado said.
