Grossi said he has been working on a proposal for several months to secure ZNPP.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said there is a way to ensure the safe operation of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant temporarily taken over by the Russian occupiers. On Tuesday, March 14, writes Ukrinform.
In his speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington (USA), the IAEA Director General said that the decision is “politically possible and also viable.”
“And I’m under the impression that we have a viable solution on the table,” Grossi said.
He added that the International Atomic Energy Agency is not looking for a political solution to the conflict, but aims to solve the problem of nuclear safety, which is of international importance.
He did not specify the details of the proposal regarding the operation of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant occupied by Russian troops.
Earlier it was reported that the Russians are trying to change the state design of the nuclear installation at the Zaporozhye NPP.
Recall that on the night of March 9, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was completely de-energized as a result of rocket attacks by the Russian Federation. The station went into blackout mode for half a day for the sixth time during the occupation.
The IAEA Director General made a statement regarding the de-energization of the ZNPP. And 49 countries demanded the withdrawal of the Russian military from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
