Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that people aged 18 to 59 who received the fourth dose vs. COVID-19now you can get bivalent vaccineif 2 months have passed since the last dose.
Deputy Minister of Health Maria Elena Aguilar del Aguila indicated that the new regulation aims to ensure that the population completes their doses and does not lose protection against COVID-19.
“All persons over the age of 18 are invited to receive a bivalent vaccine, the condition is that they have a fourth dose. We are pleased that more than 500,000 people, including medical staff and adults over 60, already have this dose of protection,” the vice minister said.
He Minsa detailed in the statement that for adults over 60 years of age and people with a risk factor, a fourth dose is not required to receive bivalent vaccine.
Pregnant women can receive the bivalent vaccine after 12 weeks of pregnancy if 2 months have passed since the fourth dose.
Meanwhile, cancer patients will be able to receive the bivalent vaccine 3 months after the fourth dose and only if they finish their cancer treatment as recommended by their doctor.
Other details of the protocol: First, the population 5 to 11 years of age can receive the third dose 3 months after the second. Second, the population 12 to 17 years of age can receive a third dose 3 months after the second. And third, the population aged 18 to 59 years can receive a fourth dose 5 months after the third.
Use of modern pediatric vaccine
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that the protocol also states that Moderna pediatric vaccine can be given to girls and boys over 6 years of age as a booster dose.
