Meta has fired or sanctioned at least a dozen employees and contractors for “misuse of user accounts.” Wall Street Journal.

According to documents seen by the newspaper, in many cases these illegal accesses were carried out in exchange for bribes.

How did this problem come about in Meta?

These employees and contractors worked in the security industry Target, and they had access to a system critical to the company.

Target It has an “Oops” system that allows employees to help users who have been hacked or lost their password to recover their account.

“Oh” should only be used in special cases: family members, business accounts, and public figures, but Wall Street Journal indicates an increase in its use.

Workers abused “Oi”, in many cases taking thousands of dollars in bribes.

“People selling fraudulent services are always focusing on online platforms, including ours, adapting their tactics in response to detection methods commonly used in the industry,” said Andy Stone, spokesperson Target.
