In Scotland, archaeologists have found one of the largest hoards of medieval coins. Express writes about it.
They found more than 8,000 coins coming from different countries: from England and Ireland to the states of continental Europe. The coins are attributed to the 13th-14th century.
Important artefacts were discovered last year in Dumfriesshire. Most of the coins are pennies from the period of Edward I and II.
“This is an absolutely amazing find. After the initial discovery, this site was excavated by the Department of Treasure Hunters, together with archaeologists from the National Museum of Scotland,” said one of the experts.
Interestingly, the new treasure was found using a metal detector. During the pandemic, it has become a form of entertainment. But leaving the found at home according to local law is strictly prohibited.
Recall that earlier in Spain, archaeologists found the remains of facial bones with an age of 1.4 million years.
