Google announced a new project, the purpose of which is to develop a language model based on artificial intelligence (AI) capable of supporting “1000 of the world’s most widely spoken languages”. As a first step towards that goal, the firm has unveiled an early version of the technology, trained in over 400 languages, which it already describes as “the largest language coverage seen in a voice model to date.”
