World of Warcraft players will return to the skies of Azeroth in Dragonflight

After a calamitous period for the world of Azeroth, forces long forgotten are awakening in the mythical Dragon Isles, ancestral home of the dragonids. Today, Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft®: Dragonflight, the next expansion to the company’s acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game, which takes players into a new era of fantastical adventures.

The dragons of Azeroth play a central role in the state of the world, guiding the mortal races and influencing events with considerable power, sometimes for their own ends. With the holy lands re-awakening, dragons will turn to the heroes of the Alliance and Horde to deal with the threats and mysteries that begin to unfold. Re-emerging from eons of slumber and ready to join the fray are the mighty Dractyr Summoners, the first race and class combination in World of Warcraft.

Depending on the specialization chosen, Dractyr Summoners can attack enemies from afar as damage dealers using breath weapons, fangs, and claws, or help strengthen allies as healers by drawing on the mystical abilities of dragonids. Players who create Dractyr Summoners will be able to customize both the draconic avatar they embody in battle and the plainclothes humanoid form used to interact with the inhabitants of Azeroth. Dractyr Summoners start the game at level 58 with a unique starter questline, choosing to align with either the Alliance or the Horde.

In addition to power and cunning, the dragons of Azeroth are known for agility in the air: all players will be able to learn the art of dragon riding, unlocking a new dynamic form of flight with a companion draco that can be customized and trained to cross the skies more efficiently as players progress through the expansion. Dragonflight also brings the most extensive updates to World of Warcraft’s profession and talent systems since the game’s launch, offering players new levels of freedom and depth in character definition.

“Players have long wanted to revisit the fantastical roots of World of Warcraft, and that’s exactly what they’ll be able to do in Dragonflight, with a deeper exploration of Warcraft®’s iconic dragons and a thrilling adventure through their homeland,” he says. World of Warcraft®: Dragonflight Highlights

Explore the Dragon Islands: On the journey towards the new level cap of 70, players will explore the primal wonders and ancient secrets of the Dragon Isles in four new areas: the sprawling Awakened Coast, take on elemental power, the vast Ohn’ahran Plain, the icy peaks of the Torrão Lazuli and the majestic temples and spiers of Thaldraszus.

New playable race/class combo: Players will face off against opponents (or bolster allies) as Dractyr Summoners, WoW’s first race/class combo. It will be possible to create a humanoid and a draconic form. Choose between the Alliance and the Horde and venture out as a ranged healer or damage dealer with mastery over the collective strength of all dragonids.

win the skies: Dragonflight features Ride Dragons, a new skill-based form of aerial locomotion that allows players to take to the skies over a Draco of the Dragon Isles. Players will customize their drakes as they progress through the expansion, gaining more appearance options and allowing them to get further even faster.

Overhaul of the talent system: The new talent system allows players to make creative talent choices without compromising effectiveness. And most importantly, they will be relevant options at all levels.

Enhanced Professions: This craftsmen will love it! In Dragonflight, players who aspire to make a name for themselves with their creations will find a host of new features and tools to fulfill their ambition, including player-focused service requests, new profession gear, and a new specialization system.

updated interface: Dragonflight will revamp the World of Warcraft interface, with improvements to the look and feel of the minimap and other elements, as well as new options for players to customize different aspects of the interface to their liking.
