Google wants users to stop typing their passwords on their mobile phones, and works with android to eradicate them.
The company plans to replace them with cryptographically signed access keys stored on the phone, allowing easy and secure access to accounts.
while passwords
These passkeys are stored securely in your phone and can be accessed using biometric data such as a fingerprint. So instead of writing password at any time, you only need to put your finger on the sensor to know that you are the owner of the account.
From this Thursday android gets more support for these access keys via Google password managerto be able to sync them with any phone we use.
Remember that this information is end-to-end encrypted, so no Google you can access it.
First steps
This new support prioritizes web services, not just for cell phones, but for desktops as well.
For example, now from Chrome we will be shown a QR code for access, which we can scan from our phones to authorize the password.
Google is also working on giving developers access to APIs for android with built-in support for these keys.
