The prosthesis helps to restore the fine motor skills of the hands or natural gait of the person as much as possible.
The Invincibles of the First Medical Association of Lviv installed the first bionic arm prosthesis at the National Rehabilitation Center. It was received by 33-year-old Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Mikhail Yurchuk, who lost an arm and a leg near Izyum last spring, Ukrinform reports.
Now the fighter can move his fingers again.
“The installation of the first bionic prosthesis is another important step towards saving Ukrainians. Hundreds of people need it. And we are working hard to give them a chance. Ukrainian doctors will restore every Ukrainian who has suffered from the war in our hospitals in Ukraine. This is the goal we set before at the National Rehabilitation Center Enduring of the First Medical Association of Lviv. And we are moving towards it, developing prosthetics, reconstructive surgery, orthopedics, and a system of rehabilitation, both physical and psychological, on a daily basis,” said Oleg Samchuk, General Director of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
Doctors noted that amputees are usually fitted with work hooks or cosmetic prostheses to avoid attracting attention. But the best solution for such people is a bionic prosthetic hand. Thanks to special sensors, it can reproduce familiar movements. This happens due to the fact that the person presses the muscle on the amputated limb and thus the hand responds.
“Defender of Ukraine Mykhailo received a bionic arm at home. Here, thousands of Ukrainians will get modern prostheses and a chance for a happy life. We look forward to this day,” said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
Recall that citizens who received a disability during the Russian Federation’s mass aggression against Ukraine can receive the necessary prostheses and wheelchairs for free.
