The former chief planning officer of HP has been sentenced to three years in prison and must return more than 250 luxury items she purchased from the company for $5 million using corporate credit cards.
Shelby Szeto (30) from Fremont Californiapleaded guilty to transaction fraud, money laundering and tax misconduct last March.
In the list of illegal purchases, the woman has Tesla 2020, car porsche 2021, 46 bags Chanel and 16 hours rolexamong others.
How did you cheat HP?
Shelby Szeto was an executive assistant and was later promoted to director of planning. I was responsible for paying suppliers hpfor which he had several corporate credit cards.
The woman created accounts on platforms such as PayPal, Band D Square, who did he pay for the supposed supplies that hp would have received.
Fraud against hp added a whopping $5 million.
In a letter to the judge before sentencing, Szeto claimed full responsibility for the fraud. hp and assured that he suffered from addiction when he committed crimes.
“My past actions have been selfish, immoral, unfair and downright outrageous,” the letter says.
Szeto will spend three years in prison and will not be able to manage other people’s money for at least three years after his release.
