Russia showed a model of his next space station called ROSSwhat will be the country’s own efforts after leaving the International Space Station (ISS).
National Space Agency Russia, Roscosmospresented a layout of the planned space station called “ROSSThis was reported by Russian state media on Monday at the Army-2022 military-industrial exhibition in the Moscow region.
Departure of the ISS is inevitable
Yuri Borisov, who was appointed by President Vladimir Putin last month to replace Dmitry Rogozin as head of the space agency, said Russia will leave ISS after 2024 and is working on building its own orbital station.
This decision was made because Russia US international partners argue after operation in Ukraine. These countries have repeatedly punished the state of Vladimir Putin for military actions.
Launched in 1998, ISS has been permanently occupied since November 2000 under the US-led association and Russia which also includes Canada, Japan and 11 European countries.
NASA wants to keep ISS in operation until 2030, says he has not yet received official confirmation of the planned withdrawal Russia and that he previously understood that Moscow would continue to participate until 2028.
no date yet
Roscosmos hopes to launch this new space station ROSS in two phases.
At the first stage, a four-module space station will work. Two other modules and a service platform will follow later, he said. This will be enough when completed to accommodate up to four astronauts as well as scientific equipment.
The space agency believes the new station will give Russian cosmonauts a much wider view of the Earth for monitoring purposes than their current segment.
Russian state media suggested that the launch of the first stage is scheduled for 2025-26 and no later than 2030. The launch of the second and last stage is scheduled for 2030-35, they report.
The space station is currently envisaged to have no permanent human presence, but to be staffed twice a year for extended periods of time.
