Scientists have developed electronic tattoo ink that will warn of potential health problems.
Researchers at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have developed an electronic tattoo ink that can be used to continuously monitor health. This was reported by Reuters.
It is mentioned that after applying a tattoo, it automatically warns a person about possible health problems.
Specifically, when connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG) device or other biosensor, it can transmit readings of the patient’s heart rate and other vital signs such as glucose and lactate levels to the monitor.
“In the future, we hope to have a wireless chip integrated into this ink so that we can communicate or send a signal back and forth between our body and an external device,” said project leader Steve Park.
The ink itself is made from particles based on gallium, a soft, silvery metal that is also used in semiconductors or thermometers. Platinum-coated carbon nanotubes help conduct electricity and ensure the device’s longevity.
It was previously reported that the World Health Organization reported that they had received reports of 920 suspected cases of hepatitis of unknown origin found in children in 33 countries.
