A global study has shown an increase in mortality from heart disease over the past three decades.
Cardiovascular diseases remain the major cause of the death toll in the world – they account for every third death, reports New Atlas. This has been proven by the results of global study through the global burden of the disease, covering data for the period from 1990 to 2023 to 204 countries.
During this time, the number of deaths from heart diseases rose from 13.1 million in 1990 to 19.2 million in 2023. Researchers also recorded that men in most regions had a higher mortality rate from cardiovascular diseases than women.
In addition, cardiovascular diseases lead to a list of the number of lost years of healthy life (DALY) due to premature death and disability. Almost 80% of such losses are associated with risk factors that can be controlled: obesity, high pressure, high sugar and cholesterol.
“If we focus on the most important and prevention of risks, using effective state politicians and proven treatment methods, we can reduce the level of premature mortality from non -infectious diseases,” said Gregori A. Roth, the program manager at the Institute of Indicator and Health of the University of Washington.
Scientists hope that these results will be the basis for new state health techniques and stimulate people to change their lifestyle in favor of heart health.
