Japanese researchers using artificial intelligence have discovered 248 new geoglyphs in Piap in Peru.
248 New geoglyphs were discovered by Japanese scientists at the popular Nazca Plateau in Peru.
The discovery has been possible thanks to field research using artificial intelligence, which lasted from 2023 to 2024. It was reported by the NHK.
Geoglyphs – giant images carved on Earth, visible only from height – are considered one of the largest archaeological mysteries of mankind. The new figures found by the University of Yamagata team describe in particular a clergy with a broken human head, corn and a fox.
Scientists have confirmed that individual groups of geoglyphs have common topics, which may indicate the ritual or mythological significance of these drawings for the people of that time. According to researchers, new ones can be key to understanding the beliefs, memoirs and languages of those inhabitants of the NASK region.
All 248 new geoglyph will be presented to the public at the Peru Pavilion exhibition during the Expo-2025 World Exhibition in Osaka.
Earlier it was reported that scientists had identified the ancient Sumerian myth, which contained a clay pills about 4400 years old.
