Scientists from Cambridge discovered a clay product from the ancient Egyptian grave which is a unique palm imprint, probably belonging to Potter.

Scientists from the University of Cambridge in the study of the ancient Egyptian grave found a very rare find – a complete indication of the human palm in the artifact of clay. This was reported by CNN and BBC.

He was left with Potter about 4000 years ago, when he made the very important “house for the soul” – a model of structure, placed in the graves to live the souls of the dead.

As Fitzviliam Museum’s older Egyptologist Helen Stravik said, a complete trace of hand in Egypt’s artifacts is a rare find. Usually only fragments of fingerprints can be found. Scientists suggest that Potter has not been burning, as the clay remained wet, and unconsciously left its trace on it.

The artifact came from the period of 2055-1650 BC. By design, it consists of a wooden frame coated with potter with clay. During firing in the oven, the wood burns, leaving only a ceramic shell.

Despite the large number of ceramic found from ancient Egypt, history knows a bit about the master-gonfacies themselves. Their work was considered insignificant: in an ancient Egyptian text, Potter was compared even to pigs lying in mud.

This unique artifact will be presented with an exhibition “made in ancient Egypt” at the UK Fitzvillam Museum.

Earlier it was reported in Egypt, during the archaeological excavation in Luxor, scientists found the three graves of high officers of the New Kingdom.
