In reducing the risk of chronic back pain, the volume of regular walks plays a major role than the intensity of walking.
Long walks can not only be eliminated, but also help prevent the development of chronic back pain even before its appearance, as a large -scale population study conducted in Norway proves. According to its results, people who went daily for more than 78 minutes, even at a slow pace, had a lower risk of back pain, Sciencealert reports.
As part of the study, scientists reviewed the data of more than 11 thousand adults of Norway. Within a week, participants wore accelerometers on the thigh and lower back, allowing to accurately measure their sunny walking and traffic strength. Chronic pain in the lower back, which lasted for more than three months, is considered.
The results are convincing: pedestrians from 78 to 100 minutes day -day have a 13% lower risk of developing chronic back pain compared to those who are less walking. And those who succeed for more than 100 minutes a day have reduced the risk by 23%. Walking at a more severe speed also gave a positive effect, but less pronounced.
Scientists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, led by Ryan Haddaju, have given a whole: “The amount of sun -day -to -day walks plays a more important role than the average intensity in reducing the risk of chronic lumbar disease.”
The study has been published in the Jama Network Open.
Remember that earlier the study showed that training only on the weekend was as good as the regular ones.
