Microscopic robots can destroy infections in the nasal sinuses and are removed from the body naturally.
Scientists from China have successfully tested on animals of small robots’ roots that can treat infected nose sinuses. According to the Guardian, these devices are so small that their size does not exceed the part of the human hair thickness.
The study published in the journal Science Robotics tells about the use of a copper microparticle, which is introduced to the body along with a fiber -optic light source. Thanks to light heating, micro -zones can penetrate the thick pus, destroy the bacterial cell walls and produce active forms of oxygen that destroy infection.
Microbots swarms are introduced into the sinuses using a catheter through the nasal passage, after which they are controlled by a movement using a magnetic field. When in the infection zone, robots can warm up and cause chemical reactions, destroying bacteria. Thanks to accurately targeted effects, the technology has the potential to reduce the hope of antibiotics and other extensive drugs.
Animal tests, in particular pigs and rabbits, showed effective cleaning of infected sinuses without damage to tissues. Scientists have developed a model for the use of this technology in operating room conditions that tend to monitor its action using an X -Ray. They believe that in the future it can be used to combat bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, the genitourinary system and the respiratory tract.
It is expected that within 5-10 years devices may appear in clinical practice for the treatment of infections not only in the sinus, but also in the bladder, intestines and other organs.
However, learning recognizes with risks – in particular, the risk of leaving part of the microbots in the body and possible side effects. Experts also predict the public about the idea of introducing robots to a human body, which could cause a wave of conspiracy theories.
We remind you, earlier it was reported that scientists had learned to create paracetamol from plastic bottles.
In the United States, they have approved a new injection for HIV -abuse with efficiency of more than 99%
