Meta shuts down its Tuned app aimed at couples in the midst of a pandemic

Target announced the closure configured, an app created exclusively for couples.

From September 19 this year, the application will stop working, just two years after its launch.

What did you set up?

customized was a project of the New Product Experimenting (NPE) team Targetwhich was originally created to create consumer-oriented applications that would allow the company to test new features and evaluate people’s reactions.

Launched in the early months of the pandemic, customized was positioned as a way for couples to stay connected and engaged, with messaging features and quizzes designed to let them share their feelings, what they’re up to and the milestones you’re looking forward to.

Through it, couples could share notes, photos, videos, audio recordings, calls and even music, trying to create an intimate space in the middle of social networks.

In accordance with sensor towerthe app has only been downloaded 900,000 times on Google Play and the App Store.

market competition

customized it had competition from better-known dating apps like Between and Couply.

Also, it didn’t have much promotion through traditional apps. Target like Facebook or Instagram.

Its users have they started receiving notifications of the upcoming shutdown last week, prompting them to upload their data before September 19, when the app will stop working.
