PlayStation resources to ensure children’s safety

For PlayStation users, the company offers a number of their own parental control tools that aim to ensure children’s fun in a safe and appropriate manner for their age group.

According to Catherine JensenSony Interactive Entertainment’s global consumer experience VP, “we want to give new users, especially parents, a glimpse of how parental parent controls work on PlayStation, where they can monitor their children’s gaming experience. Resources can be configured directly on the console or by application.”

1. Content sharing and communication control

With PlayStation, parents and guardians can decide whether their children will be able to share content, see other users’ creations or even communicate with other players on PlayStation Network. In addition, on PS4 and PS5 consoles, you can also disable the web browser to prevent young people from accessing websites and applications with inappropriate content.

2. Use management

Through this option, you can control the game time, set up individual permissions, set spending limits, and monitor console use. If you wish, the official may also name other trusted adults as guardians to help in management.

3. Time control and age restriction

So that children do not have access to the contents inappropriate for their age group, parents and guardians can configure the option in small accounts. In addition, on PS5, requests are also sent when younger ones want some exception.

To avoid excess screen during the holidays, adults can also set daily game time limits by adjusting the times for each day of the week.

4. Password protection and purchase limit

Cases of children by purchasing games without parents’ warnings are more common than many may think. To avoid this problem, those responsible can control spending by setting a monthly limit directly to your account.

In addition, to increase console safety, adults can create a device restriction key to disable invited user input and block changes in parental control settings, and set a login password to the account for exclusive access to those responsible.
