The Slovak Prime Minister will meet with the European Commissioner for Energy, to whom he will complain about Ukraine’s refusal to extend the transit of Russian gas.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced his trip to Brussels for a meeting with the Energy Commissioner, where he intends to discuss Ukraine’s refusal to continue Russian gas transfers. Fico announced this on his Facebook page on Wednesday, January 8.
“In Brussels, I will deal with Zelensky’s sabotage of the financial interests of Slovakia. President Zelensky is sabotaging the financial interests of Slovakia and the EU, despite the fact that the European Commission clearly stated in its official letter that there is no prevents Ukraine from continuing to travel. No law in Europe, no punishment,” said Fico.
He called Vladimir Zelensky “ungrateful” and reiterated that Slovakia is losing 1.5 billion euros due to non-continuation of transit through Ukraine. In his opinion, 500 million euros will be lost due to transit fees, another billion euros due to increased gas prices.
“For this American adventure of Zelensky, the whole EU will pay about 70 billion euros,” Fico said, adding that stopping transit through Ukraine significantly helps the United States, which could increase gas imports to Europe.
“Tomorrow I will go to Brussels for a meeting with the Energy Commissioner and will do everything to wake him up from his sweet sleep. Because we have a very serious problem worth tens of billions of euros, neither Slovakia nor the EU will is at war, we have no reason to tolerate Zelensky’s adventures, especially if you look at the help that Slovakia and the EU provide to Ukraine,” the Slovak prime minister said, adding that he will be in Brussels on Thursday.
Let’s remember that at the end of last year Fico complained to the EU leadership about Zelensky. In a letter, the Slovak prime minister wrote to EU leaders that “tacit agreement to Zelensky’s unilateral decision is wrong and unreasonable.”
