Scientists unearthed an intact skeleton of a soldier lying in boxes of ammunition, medical waste and broken leg and arm bones.
In recent archaeological excavations in Belgium, scientists have discovered an extraordinary find – the remains of soldiers and horses who died at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Gla.ac.uk writes about it.
Artifacts were found in the farm territory of Mont-Saint-Jean. The team excavated an intact skeleton of a soldier lying in boxes of ammunition, medical waste, and amputated leg and arm bones.
The skeleton was discovered in a ditch on the side of the road next to a farmhouse. In 2019, experts also found amputated legs in the same canal, near a field hospital, where about 500 amputations were performed, leaving large amounts of bones in the yard.
Recall that during their excavation at the archaeological site of Saqqara, located south of Cairo in Egypt, scientists found a cache with sarcophagi and 150 bronze figurines, as well as the image of the pioneering architect Imhotep.
In Spain, the facial bones of the first inhabitants of Europe were found
