Publications with body photographs shot under the hashtags #bucha and #buchamassacre (the Bucha massacre) began to spread.
The American company Meta has temporarily blocked hashtags on its social networks Facebook and Instagram, under the killings of civilians in Bucha, Kiev region. This was reported by Reuters, with reference to the representative of the company Andy Stone.
Publications with body photographs shot under the hashtags #bucha and #buchamassacre (the Bucha massacre) began to spread. But soon access to them became limited.
According to Stone, hashtags automatically block algorithms that track violence on Facebook and Instagram. He said administrators noticed this problem on April 4 and removed restrictions for the aforementioned hashtags.
At the same time, it was noted that the policies of the social networks Facebook and Instagram allow the publication of photos and videos containing scenes of violence if they are designed to attract attention to possible human rights violations. They are removed if the footage is too shocking, or if the people posting this type of photo agree with the violence. Social networks also add warnings about surprising content to some materials.
Human rights groups are known to have previously criticized Meta for its policy of removing posts about violence during conflicts.
Recall that on April 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely liberated the Kiev region from the RF Armed Forces. After that, it was learned about the Russian military killings of unarmed residents of Bucha.
Facebook and Instagram have banned the death demands of Putin and Lukashenko
