On Thursday, October 17th, we will experience the first full Moon of the year and the closest full Moon to Earth, known as the Hunter’s Moon.
On the night of October 17, the Hunter’s Moon will appear in the sky – the first supermoon of autumn and the closest to Earth in 2024. This is reported by Live Science.
This is the third supermoon of the year, coming within about 357,364 kilometers of the planet, appearing 30% brighter and about 15% larger than a normal full Moon.
The best time to observe is after sunset. During its rising, the Moon will be positioned approximately midway between the two bright planets: Saturn (right) and Jupiter (left). Jupiter will appear in the night sky about an hour after the full Moon. And on October 20, the Moon and Jupiter will join.
It was previously reported that the Chinese lunar probe Chanye-6 for the first time in history delivered soil samples to Earth from the far side of the Moon.
