In Lviv, doctors saved a 66-year-old man with a rare form of breast cancer. The tumor reached 8 cm and began to rot, requiring immediate surgery.
According to the First Medical Association of Lvov, breast cancer is 100 times more common in men than in women. 66-year-old Orest Stakhov did not suspect anything like this until a year and a half ago when he first felt discomfort in the area of his left areola. He suggested that the discomfort was caused by chafing from the safety belt. But this summer, her daughter noticed serious changes – the left side of her breast turned purple, and a growth appeared under her nipple. After an ultrasound and CT scan, the man was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The operation took place in two stages. First, the oncologists performed a mastectomy – they removed the mammary gland along with the tumor and part of the pectoral muscle. In the second stage, the axillary lymph nodes are removed to prevent the spread of the disease. Reconstructive surgeons perform a repair using the patient’s muscles to hide the defect.
The operation was successful, and after 10 days Orest went home. He has a long-term treatment ahead of him, and doctors urge everyone to be attentive to their health, undergo regular check-ups and do not ignore the symptoms.
Earlier it was reported that in Odessa, for the first time in the world, an intraocular hemangioma was removed from a child.
