Organ transplant operations were required for 45 children, eighteen patients died.
The World Health Organization said it has received reports of 920 suspected cases of hepatitis of unknown origin found in children in 33 countries. On Friday, June 24, Reuters reported, citing data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
As specified, 18 sick children died as a result. Organ transplantation was also required in 45 cases. Half of the cases of hepatitis of unknown origin were detected in European countries, including 267 in the UK, where the disease was first recorded and the largest number of cases were noted.
Of the 422 cases where the gender and age of the cases were known, more cases occurred in men, a large number of them under six years of age.
The WHO assesses the risk at the global level as moderate.
The organization noted that with this type of hepatitis, children develop chronic liver failure.
The source of infection and modes of transmission of the pathogen are analyzed, common hepatitis viruses (A, B, C, D and E) are not detected in these cases of diseases.
Recall that in 14 countries, including the United States and Europe, monkeypox cases have been recorded, whose predecessor was finally defeated in the 1970s. The virus has not yet been identified in Ukraine.
