This is not the first time that the ruins of the old city have appeared. This place has become one of the country’s tourist attractions.

In the Philippines, near the capital Manila, the ruins of a 300-year-old city were discovered under a dry dam. The BBC reported it.

After months of no rain and intense heat, the water level in the region has dropped by nearly 50 meters from the normal level of 221 meters.

In March 2024, parts of the church and tombstones began to appear in the middle of the dam. The water level continues to drop, so the appearance of the ruins has attracted the attention of tourists, even though the region suffers from extreme heat.

This is the sixth time the nearly 300-year-old settlement has resurfaced since the reservoir was created to provide water for local farmers and generate hydropower.

Meteorologists emphasized that the months of March, April and May are usually the hottest and driest in the country, but this year conditions have worsened due to the El Niño weather phenomenon.

El Niño is a sharp increase in temperature (by 5-9°C) of the surface layer of water in the Pacific Ocean. It is a planetary phenomenon, and it directly or indirectly affects the weather of a large part of the Earth.

It was learned that due to the abnormal heat in the country, schools were closed, and office workers were advised to stay at home.

It was previously reported that archaeologists discovered an ancient Greek helmet in the hills of southern Croatia.

At the bottom of the Black Sea, archaeologists have discovered artifacts that are 2,400 years old.
