In particular, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation CASC, the country’s leading rocket designer and manufacturer, plans to conduct about 70 space launches this year. As part of the missions, more than 290 devices will be sent into space.
It plans to conduct the first flights of the new Long March-12 launch vehicle, two manned missions to launch and return Chinese astronauts to the Tiangong orbital station, and two missions to deliver cargo for these crews.
The Long March-12 rocket has a two-stage configuration, a diameter of 3.8 meters and is propelled by six liquid oxygen engines. It is designed to launch up to 10 tons of payload into low-Earth orbit. The launch of this rocket will be carried out from the country’s first spaceport for commercial spacecraft, the construction of which is now being completed in the city of Wenchang in the south-island province of Hainan,” the statement said.
It is known that CASC’s list of tasks includes launching satellites jointly developed by China and France to monitor ocean salinity, electromagnetic monitoring and an astronomical probe in low-Earth orbit.
