This achievement is made possible by a small sensor. This directly transmits changes to the patient’s central nervous system, where they are interpreted by the brain as the sensation of a missing arm.
Fabrizio, a 57-year-old Italian who was the first to receive the new device, successfully tested the ability to detect temperature.
He understood the temperature of objects and was even faster at completing tasks with metal cubes of different temperatures using the prosthetic.
In further tests while blindfolded, he was able to distinguish between the human hand and the prosthetic hand just by touching them.
