The interlocutors discussed the cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the field of security, including the priority needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the importance of accelerating the implementation of the EU’s plan to provide 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine.
The EU High Representative assured that by the end of this year 1 million artillery shells will be delivered to Ukraine. He also noted the importance of expanding financial support for Ukraine from the EU.
Zelensky focused on the need to identify Ukraine as a priority destination for the export of artillery ammunition and to increase the number of orders and contracts for their production from EU member states.
“Stopping the export of artillery ammunition to third EU countries is the only possible correct solution to modern security challenges,” he said.
Vladimir Zelensky and Josep Borrell also discussed the bill on strengthening mobilization, which was adopted today by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the first reading.
“I am honored to be welcomed back by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He has asked for additional ammunition, drones and air defense systems. Mobilizing additional EU military equipment for Ukraine is my top priority. We must do more and do it faster,” – stated after the Borrell meeting.
