China has successfully launched the Shenzhou-17 manned spacecraft carrying three astronauts to its Tiangong orbital station. Xinhua agency reported this on Thursday, October 26.
The launch took place using the Changzheng-2F launch vehicle at 11:14 am Beijing time from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu Province in northwest China.
The spacecraft will carry three astronauts into space – Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin.
The Shenzhou 17 crew members are the youngest since the launch of the mission to build China’s Tiangong space station. Astronauts will remain in orbit for about six months.

The Shenzhou-17 spacecraft will perform automatic rapid rendezvous and docking at the forward docking port of the Tianhe main module, resulting in a combination of three modules and three spacecraft.

The last time China launched a crewed rocket to its space station was on May 30, when the spacecraft sent three astronauts into outer space. While on the station, they performed a spacewalk and gave a public lecture to Chinese students.
It will be recalled that on May 10, China launched a new cargo ship, the Tianzhou-6, to deliver cargo to the Tiangong orbital station.
