A curious fact happened in the middle of the last live broadcast POT spacewalks of cosmonauts who were present at the international space station (ISS).
As can be heard, the radio call is in full Spanish and from Argentina slipped into the agency’s communication with scientists, which was recorded on live video.
Radiotaxi or delivery?
Live, when cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin were working outside the space station, the voice of a citizen with an Argentine accent is heard asking for directions.
“150, did you say from Yrigoyen?” I’m listening. Immediately, commentators pointed to the “Hot Mic” to alert the astronauts that they had an open intercom.
The live broadcast took place in the early morning and, precisely, the ISS orbit was over the South American country.
While not 100% clear, it is highly likely that the message was received from a call from radio taxia form of communication in which users call the central office to order an official taxi.
space walk
Curiosity aside, Prokopiev and Petelin completed their main tasks, including transferring the radiator from the Rassvet module to the Russian science module Nauka with the help of European manipulator cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.
It was the fourth spacewalk in Prokopyev’s career and the second for Petelin. This is the station’s third spacewalk in 2023 and the 260th spacewalk to assemble, maintain and upgrade the space station. POT.
