Dozens of Russian ships sail in the waters of the Nordic countries, probably collecting intelligence about the energy infrastructure.

This is stated in a joint investigation by journalists from several publications in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
According to the investigation, in recent years, about 50 Russian ships have been seen in the North and Baltic Seas, which could collect reconnaissance. They all navigated by turning off the AIS transmitters reporting their location. The journalists were able to restore the route of the ships thanks to messages intercepted by special services.
In particular, the investigators restored the route of the Russian vessel “Admiral Vladimirsky”. Officially, this is an expeditionary oceanographic vessel, but the authors of the report are sure that it is also used for reconnaissance.
According to the broadcasting company Yle, in just one month, the Admiral Vladimirsky passed near seven wind farms, including off the coast of Great Britain and Denmark. At each station, the ship slowed down.
Experts believe that the crew members have now recorded the location of wind farms, gas pipelines, power cables and other infrastructure lying on the seabed. At the same time, a source for journalists in Danish intelligence said that Russia could thus prepare in the event of a direct confrontation with NATO – the availability of up-to-date maps will allow the Russian fleet to strike at the critical infrastructure of the Nordic countries.

The fact that the Admiral Vladimirsky is not a simple research ship is also evidenced by an incident when the ship passed near Denmark. Then journalists approached him, seeing an armed man in Russian equipment on the deck.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that journalists “unreasonably blame Russia for everything.” He called for “more attention to be paid” to the investigation of the explosions at Nord Stream.
Recall that at the end of September 2022, explosions occurred on the gas pipelines of the Nord Stream system, due to which three of the four pipelines were destroyed. Shortly before this, the Russian authorities, under the pretext of technical problems, completely stopped gas supplies to Europe. Who carried out the explosions is unknown. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the “Anglo-Saxons” for what happened.
