Founder Wikipedia, Jimmy Walesexpressed interest in using artificial intelligence ChatGPT to create articles on your platform.
Wales said the community Wikipedia she is wary of existing AI models, but is also intrigued.

In conversation with Evening Standardthe expert noted that he was impressed with the progress ChatGPT.

“I think we are still far from:ChatGPTplease write an entry to Wikipedia on the Empire State Building,” but we are definitely closer than I thought two years ago,” he said.
Wales says how much ChatGPT has captured the world’s imagination in recent weeks, their own tests of the technology show that there are still many shortcomings.
“One of the problems with ChatGPT existence is what they call in the field “hallucination”; I call it a lie,” he said. “He has a tendency to come up with something from scratch, which is very bad for him. WikipediaIt’s just not right. We have to be very careful with this.”

But although the full authorship of AI is not discussed in the near future, there is already a lot of discussion in Wikipedia about the role technology can play in improving the encyclopedia in the coming months.
“I think there are some interesting opportunities for human assistance where I really had artificial intelligence that she was trained in the right set of things. For example, here are two entries from Wikipediacheck them out and see if there are statements that contradict each other and identify the tension where one article seems to be saying something slightly different from another,” Wales said.
“A person could discover this, but they would have to read both articles side by side and think carefully – if you automate the feed to get hundreds of examples, I think our community will find it quite useful.”
“Using AI to triple the amount of input from Wikipedia it would not increase our running costs by more than £1,000 a year.”
