Remember which songs are part of the soundtrack of ‘Encanto’, which competed for the Oscar 2022
In addition to a fascinating story, “Encanto” conquered the audience with its great soundtrack, which was nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Soundtrack of 2022. All the songs in the film were written by the composer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, which managed to bring in the melodies a bit of the dance rhythm of Colombia. 1. Madrigal Family
The first song of “Encanto” is nothing more than a presentation of the characters from the film. Entitled “The Madrigal Family”, the upbeat song explains who this family is, details the relationships between the members of this clan and reveals the gift of each one.
2. Only A Miracle Can Help Me
The song “Só Um Milagre Pode Me Ajudar” is one of the essential moments to understand the story. It is during the song that Mirabel reveals her anguish at being the only one in the Madrigal family not to have a gift and questions why.
3. I’m Nervous
Luisa, one of Mirabel’s sisters, has the gift of strength, but during the song “Estao Nervosa”, she reveals that sometimes she can’t be that strong. The song shows all the character’s insecurity and ends up serving as an outburst from her to her younger sister.
4. We’re Not Talking About Bruno
Disney’s greatest song is “Enchantment”! We are talking about the hit “Não Falamos do Bruno”, which in early 2022 broke records and was at the top of the US music charts, for two consecutive weeks.
The song shows several reports about the characters’ relationships with Bruno, one of Abuela Alma’s children who left the Casita without an explicit reason.
5. What Else Will I Do?
It’s not just Mirabel who reveals her anguish by singing. The protagonist’s older sister, Isabela, does the same thing with the song “O Que Mais Vou Fazer?”. In the lyrics, the character reveals the pressure she suffers from Abuela to be the perfect granddaughter. During the song, we can also see that the relationship between the sisters improves compared to the beginning of the film.
6. Of the Orugitas
Although the entire soundtrack of “Encanto” was nominated for an Oscar, the song “Dos Orugitas” also competed for the statuette for Best Original Music in 2022. Being one of the few songs in the film recorded entirely in Spanish, the song reveals the whole story by Abuela Alma: from when she met Pedro, her husband, until the day he died, trying to protect her family.
It is also at this point in the film that we understand how Casita came to be and why Abuela is so hard on her children and grandchildren.
7. you
The last song in the film is entitled “You”, which is the moment when Abuela realizes that her demands were harming the family. The song also marks the return of Bruno, after years away from the family.
