Google supports measures to reduce its costs. The tech giant announced it was laying off 12,000 employees in early 2023 and is now set to take advantage of some of the benefits it provides.
In internal communication Google announced new cost-cutting measures as the company will focus more on artificial intelligence (AI), reported Insider.
Google this will cut some of the benefits. He will shorten the opening hours of his offices’ canteens and consolidate some of his kitchenettes.
Due to hybrid operation, these benefits will be modified to be “more in line with how and when they are used.”
Schedules for fitness classes and transportation provided by the company will also be adjusted.
“We’ve been here before. In 2008, our expenses grew faster than our income. We have improved car usage, reduced real estate investment, reduced our budgets for general and administrative expenses, cafeterias, kitchenettes and mobile phone usage, and eliminated the hybrid car subsidy. Since then, we have continued to rebalance based on data from how programs and services are being used.”
Focus on AI at Google
The tech giant will be looking to “get more out of its servers and data centers.
“This work is especially important given our recent growth, the challenging economic environment and our incredible investment opportunity to advance technology, especially in artificial intelligence”, the memo says.
Internal communication also indicates that Google He will continue to hire people, but on a reduced basis, and will direct current employees to higher priority projects.
