Mexican archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) have found a series of ancient circular mounds of the Huastec civilization. Heritage Daily writes about it.
The find was discovered in the city of El Naranjo. Four ancient mounds were found there during the construction of the route.
In particular, 12 graves were found located in one area.
One of the mounds with a diameter of 20 meters. It is made of limestone and basalt masonry. Three adults were buried there. Their lips are adorned with flower-shaped shells, obsidian blades, and green quartz earrings.
Another mound has a diameter of 30 meters. An old man is buried here.
Note that the Huastec civilization was a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican culture that lived in the territory along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
