As reported by GamesRadar and echoed by the Jovem Nerd portal, The Leak website would have gotten confirmation that “The Last of Us Part III” is already in production through an anonymous source direct from Sony. According to the rumor, the newest title should be made available for PlayStation 5 in 2026, and may also receive a version for a next-generation console.
Despite speculation, Naughty Dog and Sony have yet to comment on the matter. However, it is worth remembering that the production of a third game in the franchise has not been discarded by the developers since, in a recent interview, Neil Druckmanncreator of “The Last of Us”, stated that everything depends on the team.
“With The Last of Us, it’s up to us to decide whether we want to continue or not. Our process is the same as we did when we made Part 2, which is if we can create a compelling story that has this universal message about love – just like the first and second games – then we’ll tell that story. If we can’t come up with something, we have a very strong ending with Part 2 and that will be the end.”
