The South Korean orbiter Danuri took black-and-white pictures of the surface of the Moon and the Earth. This was reported by the Korean Aerospace Research Institute on Facebook.
The footage was taken between December 24, 2022 and January 1, 2023 at a distance of 120 km from the moon. They represent the lunar and terrestrial surfaces.
“The images will be used to select potential lunar landing sites in 2032,” the statement said.
Danuri is known to orbit the moon every two hours. It was launched to the planet on a SpaceX rocket in the United States in August 2022. It went into orbit around the moon in December.
The orbiter will begin its scientific mission in 2023.
