Greater frequency and intensity of exercise help reduce cardiovascular risk, making physical activity a low-cost approach to reducing mortality.
A study that analyzed 130,000 people in 17 countries of different socioeconomic levels, including Brazil, pointed out that the adoption of policies to encourage physical exercise can help reduce mortality and risks of cardiovascular diseases.
“The habit of performing regular physical activity is related to better weight control, improvement of diabetes, control of blood pressure and cholesterol levels, in addition to cardiopulmonary conditioning”says vascular surgeon Dr. Aline Lamaita.
“This research did not evaluate the effect of physical activity, because it is already known that people who practice exercise have a lower cardiovascular risk. In fact, the study found that there is a proportion in which the greater the frequency and intensity of physical activity, the lower the risk of developing a cardiovascular problem.”adds the doctor.
