The congress admitted that it had discussed the vacancy proposal against the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, due to a perceived permanent moral incapacity to remain in office.
With 73 votes in favor, 32 against and 6 abstentions, the plenary session approved the initiative presented by out-of-group congressman Edward Malaga.
