Being 21 can be exciting for a variety of reasons. If you are a human being, this means you can legally drink alcohol in the United States. And if you’re a Chihuahua, it means you could be the new world record holder for the oldest living dog.
Either way, so did Tobikiti, a 21-year-old Chihuahua in Florida, who was awarded the award last week. According to Guinness World Records.
Tobikit, described by owner Gisela Shori as “fragrant, sociable and sweet”, was born on January 9, 2001.
TobyKeith was originally named Peanut Butter on the Shore, then volunteered at Peggy Adams ’Animal Rescue In West Palm Beach, he was adopted by an elderly couple who could no longer afford to take care of him, he told Guinness. He was only a few months old.
Breeds of small dogs usually have a longer life than larger ones. The average life expectancy of a Chihuahua is from 15 to 17 years American Cinology Club. Shora attributed Tobikit’s amazing longevity to a healthy diet, exercise, good genes, and the loving home that was with him and other pets – two dogs and two parrots.

The Guinness Book of Records is the oldest living dog and not the oldest dog. That’s the difference. It is owned by Blue, an Australian cattle dog that has lived to 29 years and 5 months. Blu died in 1939.
Hopefully, Tobikit will break his record with his favorite snack, a slice of turkey. After all, as once sang by another celebrity named Toby Kitty, Every dog has its own day.
