Martha Beatrice Ferrerleader’s daughter Patriotic Union of Cuba, José Daniel Ferrer, was able to enter Peru after being detained at the Jorge Chavez airport. Initially, she was denied entry despite the fact that she was in possession of documents certifying her status as a delegate to the Civil Society Forum of the Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
A Cuban citizen was accredited as a representative of the organization Cuba Decide and was informed that she did not need any documents or a special visa to enter our country. Nonetheless, Martha Ferrer she had to wait over nine hours to be let through.
“When I left the United States, they told me that (I could enter) with my residence. They asked me for a visa and I told them that I did not have a visa and they told me that with the residence it is enough to enter. Peru. And when I get to immigration, they tell me no, I need a visa.. I show him an invitation letter from the OAS that I came as a guest to Cuba Decide, and they tell me that I need a visa, that they can’t let me in, ”she told RPP.
Ferrer stressed that he was able to penetrate the territory of Peru thanks to the intervention of friends, and accused the Cuban government of obstructing his functions.
“Thanks to friends, we were able to get a letter from the Foreign Ministry to enter Peru. We know what kind of hands the dictatorship has in many countries and what they can do to prevent the atrocities committed by the dictatorship against the Cuban people and political prisoners from being made public,” he added.
